Open Cell Foam has a R-value of 3.4 to 3.8 per inch, is a great air barrier, and is excellent for sound control. Open Cell is a great choice for foaming both new and existing attics and walls, and can be used in crawl spaces. Closed Cell Foam has a R-value of 6 per inch… the highest of any insulation on the market today. Closed Cell adds structural integrity to your home. Closed Cell can be used to turn your crawl space (new or existing) into a closed crawl space because it acts as a vapor barrier as well as an air barrier. Closed Cell can be used in walls or attics as a stand-alone insulation or as part of a hybrid system. |

Smith Insulation can meet all of your insulation needs and has taken insulation to the next level. We offer hybrid systems to help lower the cost while maximizing the performance of your home. The main hybrid systems are; Flash and Batt, Flash and Spider, and Flash and Foil. Flashing is the spraying of closed cell foam to establish an air barrier and the foam’s R-value. We then cover the foam with the other insulation to achieve the maximum R-value and performance for the selected system. Ask your sales representative to help you choose the best system for your specific design situation. |
